Behind the Mask

Behind the Mask (Detrás de la Máscara) is a collection of photographs created during the filming of La Máscara y Más (The Mask and More), a documentary about the Huaconada of Mito. UNESCO globally recognized this ancient dance from Peru for its Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. Along with interviews and other locally gathered information, Behind the Mask (written in English and Spanish) is a narrative about some of Mito’s people, their costumes and rituals that keep the Huaconada as a living tradition and a fabulous component of Peru’s rich and diverse cultural identity.

Detrás de la Máscara es una colección de fotografías creadas durante la filmación de La Máscara y Más, un documental sobre la Huaconada de Mito. La UNESCO reconoció mundialmente esta danza antigua de Perú por su Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial en 2010. Junto con entrevistas y otra información recopilada localmente, Detrás de la Máscara (escrita en inglés y español) es una narración sobre algunas de las personas de Mito, sus disfraces y rituales que mantienen la Huaconada como una tradición viva y un componente fabuloso de la rica y diversa identidad cultural del Perú.
